Displays at the Riyadh Aviation Museum
There are many things displayed in the display halls; some of them are souvenirs from the RSAF’s history, insignia, uniforms, aircraft engines and weaponry, and decorations. 1. BAC Lightning
F53 British fighter aircraft were used as interceptors throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. Conceived and manufactured in the United Kingdom, It is still the only fighter capable of Mach 2. English Electric was incorporated into the newly established British Aircraft Corporation, developed, conceived, and constructed the Lightning, also later the type was sold as the BAC Lightning.
2. Bell UH-1
Nicknamed “Huey,” The Bell UH-1 Iroquois is an American utility military helicopter that is designed and manufactured by Bell Helicopter. It is the first turbine-powered helicopter in US military service and the first member of the illustrious Huey family.
3. The de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk
This is a dual, two-seat, single-engine main transport aircraft designed and manufactured by de Havilland Canada. It was built after World War II and replaced the de Havilland Tiger Moth biplane by selling in large quantities in the immediate postwar years.
4. Hawker Hunter F Mk60
Designed by Hawker Aircraft for the Royal Air Force in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Mk60 Hawker Hunter is a British transonic jet-powered fighter aircraft. It was the first jet-powered aircraft created by Hawker Aircraft to be acquired by the RAF. One of the specialities of this fighter aircraft is that it was designed to use the newly developed Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet engine and the sweeping wing. On September 7, 1953, the improved original prototype broke the previous record with a speed of 727.63 mph.
5. Northrop F5-E
Developed by Northrop Corporation in the late 1950s, the Northrop F-5 is a series of supersonic light fighter jets. There are two primary models, the Freedom Fighter versions F-5A, and F-5B, and the heavily modified Tiger II variants F-5E and F-5F. Since it is smaller and simpler than other competitors, the F-5 is a popular export aircraft.
