Kazbegi, on the Georgian Military Highway, is a great overnight trip from Tbilisi. A couple of hours hiking will take you to an astounding church with some incredible mountain views. This place is often missed in the lists of things to do in Georgia. This is an incredible monument outside of Tbilisi with immense pillars carved with the story of Georgia's history. The monument sits on top of a hill overlooking Tbilisi Lake. You can enjoy the gigantic carvings and the beautiful lake peacefully for hours.

Visit the Georgia-Russia friendship monument

On the trip from Tbilisi to Kazbegi, you’ll stop at this semi-circular structured monument. Inside the staggering monument, there is vibrantly coloured mural artwork, portraying heavily stylized scenes from Georgian and Russian history. The monument looks over the Devil’s Valley and the Caucasus Mountains.

Travel to Khor Virap (Southern Armenia)

This is one of the most impressive and scenic places in Armenia. Translated as “deep dungeon”, it is the hallmark of Armenia. It shows the famous monastery where Gregory, the Illuminator was held enslaved in its dungeon for 13 years. You can also see the massive Mount Ararat, where Noah’s Ark was supposedly found, in the background.

Witness the mysterious Garni Temple (Western Armenia)

Garni Temple is the only remaining pagan temples in the country, which is believed to have been erected in 77 AD. This iconic temple is sited in the village of Garni and is the best-known structure and symbol of pre-Christian Armenia. The temple stands on the hill with vineyards bounded by gorgeous mountain gorge from three sides, impressively.

Visualise the beautiful Sevan Lake (Armenia)

Occupying 5% of all Armenian Territory, Sevan Lake is the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus Region. Located at 1900 meters of altitude, it is one of the biggest freshwater high-altitude lakes in the world. The region is significantly colder than other places because of the high altitude. There are many monasteries on the shore of the lake built of crude black stone, and the most interesting one being Sevanavank Monastery.
