Visa Application Process

Step 1: Determine the Appropriate Visa Type

Choose the visa that best matches the purpose of your visit:

Schengen Tourist Visa – for tourism, visiting family or friends, etc.

Business Visa – for attending meetings, conferences, or other business-related activities.


Step 2: Understand the Required Documents

Familiarize yourself with the documents typically required for your visa type. Our team will guide you through the necessary documents upon consultation.



Step 3: Schedule an Appointment

Book an appointment with the designated Visa Application Center or embassy/consulate.



Step 4: Complete the Application & Gather Documents

Fill out the visa application form accurately. Based on your travel purpose, we will assist you in organizing and preparing the necessary supporting documents to ensure your application is complete.



Step 5: Attend Your Appointment

Arrive on time at the Visa Application Center or embassy/consulate. Submit your application and biometric data (fingerprints and photograph), and pay the applicable visa fee.



Step 6: Track Your Application

Monitor the status of your application online using the tracking system. You’ll need your application reference number and date of birth.



Step 7: Receive Your Passport

Once processing is complete, collect your passport in person or opt for courier delivery (if available). If your visa is approved, verify that all details on the visa sticker are correct.



Step 8: Prepare for Travel

When traveling to Germany, carry all necessary documents with you. Border officers may request proof of accommodation, a return ticket, and evidence of sufficient financial means.

  • Original Passport valid for at least three months beyond date of expiry of requested visa. Must contain at least two sequent empty pages.

  • Valid Bahraini CPR reader

  • Residence permit (minimum validity 3 Months from the return date)

  • Travel medical insurance

  • Bank Statement

  • Employed: No Objection Certificate (NOC) in original from your current employer

  • Business Owners/Self Employed: Photocopy of extended CR

  • Unemployed: Sponsorship letter and sponsor’s documents

  • One recent passport size photograph (not older than 6 months).

  • Size must be 3.5 x 4.5 cm with a white background.

  • Straight Posture

  • Head covers are not permitted except for religious reasons.

Currently, visa processing time is a minimum of 15 Calendar days. It may vary depending on the nationality of the applicant.

Yes. To prove your strong ties with the residing country, other nationalities residing in Bahrain may provide any proof of residency in Bahrain (ex. Electricity bill, Housing/Lease contract, etc.)

Yes. The travel insurance must be valid for the entire duration of stay in the Schengen area, covering the territories of the Schengen states, for a minimum cover of 30,000 Euros including repatriation. Medical insurances of credit cards are not accepted.

The Embassy reserves the right to request any additional supporting documents or an interview and does not guarantee the issuance of the visa.

Letter from local employer / sponsor should include name, postal address and telephone number of sponsor/company , with details regarding applicant’s working position, starting date of employment and salary and timeframe of work leave (expected date to resume duties) and purpose of travel.

All documents must be in English or German. Otherwise, translation is mandatory.

Minor travelling with one parent/legal guardian/travelling alone: Passport, ID, Birth certificate, original authorization signed by parents/legal guardian. Copy of passports of parents/legal guardians.

Children under 12 years old are exempt from fingerprinting but still need a digital photo. Children aged 12 and above must provide full biometrics.

Personal bank statements of at least the last 3 months before application, personal property, assets, etc.

During the whole processing time the passport has to remain with the German Embassy. Passports can only be withdrawn if a written request by the applicant himself is presented to the Embassy. Consequently, the application will be cancelled / withdrawn and the passport returned via VFS Global within 2 working days.
